About Pole Barns

There are many builders that specialize in construction of pole barns (post-frame buildings), and even though different builders use different techniques, the idea of a pole barn is basically the same. The typical pole barn is constructed with pressure treated posts placed in the ground (approximately 48″ below ground level). Posts of most of the pole bans are usually spaced 8′ on center. On outside of these posts you’ll find 2×4 girts that are fastened 24″ o.c. (the siding is fastened into these 2×4 girts), double 2×12 headers to support trusses, and 2×4 purlins (or plywood) on top of trusses to support roofing material. Pole barn is probably the least expensive and the simplest way to build yourself a nice building (garage, horse barn or any other type of building). If you are looking for a small building and can’t afford to hire a contractor, you can probably have one build yourself, perhaps with the help of your friends – you’ll need at least 1 helper to build the frame and 2 helpers to set the trusses up.

Home Construction

If you have enough money to hire a contractor or simply don’t have time to build the barn yourself, then you’ll need to find the right contractor for the job. If you are like me, or like most of the people, you probably want to spend as little as possible and build the barn as nice as possible. Well, that’s what we all wish for, but it doesn’t always work like that. Did you ever hear of the saying “greedy pays twice”? Being in construction business for a while, I personally know of several customers that “tried to save money” on either site excavation, foundation or some other work, by having their “friends” or “someone they know” to do the work. Guess what? These customers ended up paying more than the quote given by us, since their “friends” didn’t do the job right and we either had to redo the excavation (how can we put up a building on the site that’s 2′ or 3′ off level?) or fix the foundation. The bottom line, if you want to keep your friends, don’t hire them.

What to look for in a quality constructed Pole Barn

Consider these options and features for your pole barn:

1. “Perma-Columns” – Instead of placing your posts in the ground, you can now choose the concrete columns to avoid any possibility of rotten posts. A Perma-Column is basically a manufactured concrete column with a U-shaped metal bracket on top. These concrete columns go in the ground and your wooden posts are placed on top of these columns and are bolted into U-shaped brackets. Keep in mind, Perma-Columns will add additional cost to your barn project. Plan to spend 0 – 0 per each post extra).

2. Glue Laminated Posts – Instead of using regular 4×6 or 6×6 pressure treated posts that have a tendency to twist, crack and bow, glue-lam posts are stronger and have a lot less chance to twist or bow. Different sizes of glu-lam posts are available on the market. For smaller buildings, you can use 3 or 4-ply 2×6 posts, for larger and taller buildings you will need to use 3 or 4-ply 2×8 posts. The other advantage of glue-laminated posts is only the bottom of these posts are treated (in case you decide to put them in the ground)

3. Use Proper Bracing – Make sure your pole barn is built with proper bracing. Tell your builder to install side braces and truss braces if you want to have your barn withstand strong winds. Installing metal hurricane ties is also a good idea, especially in hurricane-prone areas. Believe it or not, some builders do not bother to install truss or side braces to save money. If you have ever seen a collapsed pole barn after strong winds, it’s most likely due to improper bracing techniques used.

4. Use Reflective Insulation and Ridge Vent – Now, I know you don’t want to spend more than you have to, but believe me, reflective insulation placed under metal roof will help keep your entire building cooler in hot summer days. So, would the installation of ridge vent. If you don’t know what reflective insulation is, just Google it and you’ll find all the information you need.

5. Overhangs – By all means, please do use overhangs on your barn or any structure you build. Don’t know about you, but I personally can’t look at the barn that doesn’t have any overhangs. Honestly, it looks like crap. Be aware that some builders would include overhangs on the eaves in their quote, but not on the gables. If you want overhangs on the gables, they’ll charge you extra.

6. Compare Construction – Don’t get too excited when you find the builder with the cheapest price for the pole barn. Beware of those salesmen and companies that get you on the hook with a “cheap price” and than start charging you extra for different features and options that should have been included in the price in the first place. If this happens to you, forget about that builder. The bottom line, compare construction specifications and features, not just the price.

More and more people today find the thought of a sunny cottage kitchen in the Tuscan countryside as their ideal. If you long to have that cozy-cottage feel in your own kitchen, the good news is that it’s easy to do-it-yourself!

One of the reasons Tuscan kitchen is such a hot decorating trend is that it celebrates the simple things in life: Food, friends, and family. A Tuscan kitchen is functional, not fussy, and decorating in this theme is as simple as paint and a few touches.

Kitchen Cabinets

The walls in a Tuscan kitchen have a unique, old-world look. You can achieve this using a faux painting technique. First, you paint the walls a bright base color such as butterscotch or butter yellow. Then, sponge on a deeper shade so that the walls look as though they have faded in some spots. There are many books and Internet sites that can give you step-by-step directions on this method of applying paint, as well as product suggestions. If you want to go the extra mile, you can texturize your walls using joint compound mixed with paint. “Pouncing” the mixture onto the walls creates a colored, rustic roughness characteristic of an authentic country kitchen in Tuscany.

The next places to paint are cabinet doors. Use a strong, contrasting color to really give your Tuscan county kitchen character. Deep reds and bright forest greens are especially popular on cupboard doors. While you’re out looking for just the right shade of paint, spend some time in the hardware section of your home improvement store. This is where you’ll find the pulls and handles to add the finishing touch to your Tuscan cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Heavy, burnished metal or ceramic knobs will both look great in your kitchen.

Now that you have the background set, it’s time for the focus pieces. A Tuscan country kitchen harkens thoughts of family and friends. A large table with simple chairs is a sure invitation to your own family to spend quality time in the kitchen. Brightly colored seat cushions make the chairs even more inviting, and a wooden bowl of fruit and nuts encourages a long visit.

Browse through kitchen supply stores and you’ll find a dazzling array of decanters for oils and spices. In a Tuscan county kitchen, cooking ingredients are often stored in plain sight. Glass jars filled with dried beans and pasta should line your counters, along with terra cotta planters and cooking utensil holders. Pewter and copper vessels are also a good choice you’re your Tuscan kitchen. If you have the floor space, freestanding metal or wooden racks can be used to hold commonly used pots and pans, as well as sunflower-print table linens. Pots of herbs on a windowsill and trailing houseplants on top of the refrigerator add even more of an Old World feel to your new kitchen look.

One of the things that works to keep relationships alive is spending quality time with each other. In this day of the information age, it is becoming increasingly difficult to carve out the necessary time to nurture our relationships. What with long work hours, helping kids with their homework, transporting them around to their extracurricular activities, getting dinner, cleaning up and going through the bedtime routine, what time is left?

Unless you orchestrate the time for your relationship, other less important things will crowd in and take what precious little time you do have. Pick a night that will be “date night” with your partner and make a game out of being as creative as you can be. Try to see how many things you can do without spending money.

Bedroom Decor

To get you started, I’ve come up with some suggestions to help you for the next year. What follows are 52 ideas for how to spend creative time together without spending money.
Now you have 52 suggestions for things to do with your partner for every week of the year divided by season. Certainly you don’t have to follow my suggestions. Feel free to add your own or to repeat your favorites as often as you’d like.

The main point is not to see how kinky you can get. The idea is to keep your relationship alive by making time together a priority. It is important that you find things to do as a couple that you can both enjoy. If you have vastly different interests then you can enter this with the spirit of taking turns and each agree to happily participate in the activity chosen by the one whose turn it is that week.

As long as you make a habit of making your relationship a priority and allocating time each week for rejuvenation of the feelings that attracted you in the first place, then you stand a good chance of staying together for the long haul.

Please don’t let insidious boredom enter into your relationship through the back door. This is what frequently happens when we are busy placing other things ahead of our time for each other. You know what I mean—the job, the kids, our friend in crisis, etc. There will always be a competing interest for the time you’ve set aside for each other.

Other than natural disasters, threat of death or major crises, do not allow your time together to be invaded by any outside forces. Make sure to create opportunities for you to do things together without outside influence. With more than 50% of today’s marriages ending in divorce, make this small investment in the longevity of your relationship. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. What’s stopping you? Start today.

Albina Nazimova, interior decorator, and Ilya Piganov, artist have invaded the “holiest of holies” with impunity. This is a place you can’t just stroll into off the street (in any sense). There’s no sign – something that especially advanced socialites may regard as ultra-trendy. The atmosphere is as yet correct and tranquil devoid of frenzy, quietly club-like. Members of the Union of Architects (whose building this is) continue to appear here – at least once a month, when they come to pay their membership fees. The restaurant of the House of Architects in Granatny pereulok has from Soviet times been known for its mix of exclusiveness and democratic tolerance – like all restaurants in creative unions, incidentally.

When the decision was taken to refurbish it the designers were confronted with two problems. The first was the force of tradition, which encouraged people to regard this as a kind of private club mainly for architects and their friends. The second was the space’s unambiguous and rigid structure. The tradition had to be maintained in some way; the architecture, to be left intact. From the start, it was decided that the large “main” room, the powerful pseudo-antique columns dividing the latter from the small “side-chapels”, and the small cafe ‘ in the “vestibule” would be preserved. But it’s difficult to believe that an interior constructed in the 1970s in a style reminiscent more of the Soviet Baltic states than of Moscow – more of Jurmala than Palanga, – a masculine, naturally aggressive interior, could be so transformed. And transformed, moreover, without the intervention of a professional architect. Leaving the architecture untouched, interior-decorator Albina Nazimova has made the restaurant more “feminine”, softer, and – more complex.

Interior Design

A hint of withering, a few drops of bourgeoiserie, a faint nostalgia for the vanished Great Empire. The existing claret was diluted with grey; the ultramarine was diluted with gray, and the green, also diluted with grey. The result is an elegant pallor, as if everything were covered with a layer of museum dust – that non-specialists are not advise to touch. Albina Nazimova says she wanted “the main palette and emotional color to derive from what Ilya Piganov was doing”. The restaurant has ten panels by this well-known Moscow artist. All are photo-collages realized through complicated technique that Piganov invented himself. These works fit neatly into the difficult space. Piganov’s objects are, on the one hand, complex and painstakingly made.

One can gaze at them forever as with Persian miniatures or fantastically patterned wallpaper on a sleepless night. On the other hand, they are unobtrusive and easily fade into the background when people wish to focus on something else – an important quality in art which is to be displayed in a public space. Not only the colors, but the furniture and lighting are successful. The restaurant has nut and ebony tables, sofas, and chairs bought in China (after taking Europe by storm, the idea of ordering designer furniture from the Orient has made inroads into Russia too), all powerfully lit by designer lights. Ingo Maurer’s Classical chandelier (which has become the maestro’s calling card) copes excellently with the high ceilings. Chellini’s standard lamps do the same for the length and width of the rooms.

The beauty, hardness and utility of granite makes it a highly desirable material for countertops in home design. In addition to its natural strength, granite is a beautiful stone that adds color and warmth to a room. Though the cost to add granite countertops to any new kitchen or remodel can be quite high, they remain the premiere choice in many new and remodeled homes.

The price of granite countertops ranges from to 0 a square foot, which may or may not include the cost of installation. Discount granite can be found for as little as per foot, not including installation. The premium cost is not in the stone itself, but rather in the costs related to transportation and installation.

Kitchen Cabinets

The stone industry remains unregulated, which can make it confusing. Every entity that handles the granite, from the quarry to the supplier and fabricator, can establish their own pricing based on the demand in the local market. Dealers who provide full service, so that a homeowner doesn’t have to do the shopping or planning, will add a markup of up to 50%.

Granite suppliers will typically have three or four groupings (or “tiers”) of granite to choose from. The first tier will consist of the premium products that sell for the highest price. Stones are grouped based on several criteria including the country of origin, color, veins or patterns, thickness of the slab, amount of soft minerals in the stone, and current fashion trends. Some granite colors exhibit “”movement”", or a distinctive pattern within the color. The combination of color and movement also affect the final price of granite countertops.

Granite from lower tiers has the same beauty and utility as the slabs in the upper groupings. Additionally, stones in a lower tier could be harder than stones in a first tier, so it pays to get out and look around. A lower tier could also be referred to as “commercial grade.” Typically the commercial grades have a large number of “pits” that have been filled in. The presence of softer minerals may require additional cabinet supports or penetrating sealant, which adds to the final price of granite countertops.

Cheaper, thinner cut stone may be a little less than two centimeters instead of a recommended three, in which case the installer would laminate it to plywood backing for additional stability. Discount granite suppliers will typically deal with a thinner cut stone; many suppliers now carry stones that are intentionally cut thin and laminated at the quarry. It is now common for stone that originates in Asia or India to be cut thin and fabricated prior to shipping. Pre-fabrication does create a lower cost product with less waste being shipped to the supplier. In addition, the fabrication is done in countries with much lower wages, saving on the labor costs at the final destination.

The price of granite countertops is greatly affected by the number of seams and cuts that will have to be made in the stone slabs. Discuss how the cuts will be made when the installer or fabricator makes their preliminary measurements for the template. Another thing to question are the hidden costs of wasted material. Depending on the length of countertops being installed, there will be at least three square feet of waste by the time the fabricator is finished. The cost of wasted material is paid by the homeowner.

Shopping for granite countertops doesn’t have to be frustrating. Focus on finding a reputable supplier and installer who are willing to answer all your questions. Despite the fact that labor expenses are the largest price of granite countertops, this is one project that needs to be left to the professionals. The oversized sheets are extremely delicate and must be precisely cut. Failure to properly set a granite countertop could create an expensive mistake for a do-it-yourself homeowner.

When you have to have junk removed from your property, you do have several options. However, there are only two options on the minds of many people. Those options are to take advantage of a free service or to take advantage of a pay service. What you choose depends on what kind of junk you want to get rid of and how much of it you have.

Free junk removal services

Home Furniture

If you have junk that is nothing but recyclables, then you can take advantage of a free junk removal service. The reason for this is because a free junk removal service obtains their money by recycling the goods they pick up. If it is not recyclable, then they cannot take it. It would cost them to have to get rid of it and they’re not going to take on that cost. They’re not going to take it on because they get nothing in return.

Fortunately, most items can be recycled in some way, so that will work in your favor when using a free junk removal service. However, you also have to take a look at how much junk you’re looking to get rid of. If it is above a certain amount, then they may charge you for the additional or not take it at all. That doesn’t make it so free, does it? It doesn’t. They also may not take those things that can be donated because they do not make a profit from it. This can include such materials as soil you have left over from planting your flower bed.

When choosing a free junk removal service, make sure you look at it from every angle. That way you know if they can take all or most of your junk. If they can take most and you can deal with the rest, then it might be a good deal. Otherwise, you may want to employ a pay service.

Pay junk removal services

When you pay a junk removal service, you can get rid of those things that a free junk removal service won’t get rid of at all. You may have old garden junk that you can’t do anything with. You might even have old furniture that can be donated to a family in need. A junk removal service will make sure the furniture is sent to the right place for refurbishment so that it can be turned into a usable piece again, if it isn’t already usable.

There are a few things, however that no junk removal service will remove and those things are chemicals and other hazardous wastes. Anything that is considered toxic must be disposed of in another way. The best way to find out is to contact the waste department within your city and see how they suggest certain hazardous materials be disposed of.

The reason why they cannot haul off hazardous chemicals is because these chemicals can spill in their trucks, the employees can become hurt, and they may not have the proper venue to dispose of those materials. Make sure you check with your local junk removal service regarding whether or not they can haul off certain materials. If they can’t, you need to consult with your city.

Which one?

Which one is entirely up to you. Just keep in mind that free services tend to take less care. They do make money off of your material, but they may not be quite as convenient as your commercial junk services. Remember that they give items to charities and they recycle as much of the materials as they can. It is rare you’ll find your things in a landfill.

Anyone with the right camera equipment, and the necessary skills can set up a home business, marketing photography. You need only to convert a room of your house into an office, and then you can work immediately.

With modern technology in the form of SLR digital cameras, you do not even need the room for a dark room. You need only to have a personal computer and a photo-editing program. The standard is Adobe Photoshop.

Home Security

It is not necessary to clutter yourself with equipment you do not need. You can hire equipment on and when you need it basis. You have the freedom to work part time for a while until you can devote yourself full time to photography. All you need to be is a serious photographer. There are two types of photographers that makes their living from photography, the serious photographer and the very serious photographer. You can always bookmark this link and then you can quickly access just about all you’ll ever need from here.

Whilst the technical skills needed to make a successful photographer have never been easier, other aspects have changed the business. The market for photographs of virtually every type has widened, the world seems to have an insatiable appetite for photographs. However the price has fallen as the marketing net has broadened. Photographers are needed in many more fields. For instance many people use car web sites, they simply did not exist ten years ago, and they sell their products as a result of photography. Cameras used by scuba diver’s are now an excellent quality, and whilst they are initially expensive, they have forged a new market. People celebrate special occasions more with photography, than they did years ago. The travel and advertising markets have a greater need for landscape, travel and nature shots.

It is now easier than ever to turn your dream into reality and create a worthwhile business out of an engrossing hobby. However in today’s modern world there is more to it than simply pointing a camera, and shooting a picture. You need to be aware of marketing techniques, and here marketing simply means transferring ownership of a product, in this case an image from a buyer to seller. You also need to be aware of any local gaps in the market in your local area. You should also try to be on top of your competitor’s prices, to undercut an existing photographer is one choice, but to neglect to value your skills and not charge enough to cover your overheads is another matter entirely. Remember this, its an important point.

Use your skills to the best advantage of the business and define what you want from it. Writing a business plan helps to keep you focused on the areas you specifically want to exploit. A business plan helps you to define your goals and strategies, it will be changed and updated, but it will help you, to keep things in perspective. You can then refer back to it when things become confusing or complicated. Everyone’s business plan will be different, as every objective will be different, but there are certain common factors that make up a good business plan which will help your business grow. It allows you to develop a professional attitude to your business, which not only helps you to increase your earnings, but also help you to finance your business.

For the photographer it should include, your business name, or your own, with full details of the proposed location of the business, a copy of your logo, as well as details of your copyright notices. What is the form of your proposed business (sole ownership, partnership, Limited Liability Company or Corporation). This should be followed by a table of contents, which focuses on a logical order. There are resources that will give you further details on such as profitable-photography.com

Included after this should be the type of business you intend to pursue, in a fair amount of detail, and it should contain the services you intend to offer. This section should include any future gaols or avenues you would like to explore, stating your clear objectives. This is so you can check at a later date whether your objectives are on course, or if you have got sidetracked.

If you envisage at any time you may need financial help, then you should include your personal business history.

You should also state a clear and concise marketing plan that should demonstrate how your business will differentiate from the businesses of your competitors. You should be able to establish whom your customers will be, as well as where your market will be, as in wholesale or retail or a combination of both. You should also be able to determine how long this type of market will be available to yourself.

The next section should clearly define your opposition, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. This should include the ways you may be able to exploit any gaps in the market in the specific area where you live. A section should follow this on how you intend to market and promote your individual services.

A financial segment should be included as to how you intend to manage the day-to-day bills of the business. How you intend to price your services, and what factors influence this pricing structure, which includes a section on your competitor’s financial structures. This means a fair amount of detective work as well as homework. Get your friends to ask from quotes from the local competition. Or try an even more direct approach, tell your competitor’s that you intend to start a new business, and that you do not want to undercut them, as this reduces the cake for everyone. They may well offer to help you construct a pricing structure that ensures everyone’s livelihood. It is in their interests to help. Not everyone will be cooperative, but it may mean you can get a truer picture of the market factors that govern your area.

Make a list of all the equipment you will need in your first year, as well as how and where you intend to purchase. Note any difficulties that may arise in obtaining your supplies. Note whether the prices of your supplies have a seasonal fluctuation, that may help you influence you when to buy. You should make a note of any local licenses that will be necessary, as well as any zoning restrictions, that may restrict the growth of your business. Your neighbours may not be thrilled at a procession of customer’s to your door, check whether they can restrict your services. Make a study of all your business insurance requirements.

The final segment should be devoted to how you intend to finance the growth of your business, as well as isolating what your financial needs will be. This should include a projection on your future earnings, as well as an accurate assessment of your outgoings’. This should be assessed on a monthly basis for the first year, and on an annual basis for the following three years. An important aspect of the financial statement is an assessment of the break-even point of your business, in other words the minimum you will have to take to pay your expenses.

The purpose of this documentation is to allow you to enunciate what the core elements of your business will be, in doing this it should help you to be able to quickly evaluate the success of your business objectives. If you are not clear on your objectives then you cannot possibly make a plan to bring about the success of those objectives.

A beauty salon has become an almost iconic image in Western culture. It is a place where people go for beauty treatments and to purchase beauty products. Women frequent beauty salons to get their hair trimmed and nails polished.

A beauty salon is also a center for community news and confessions. No two beauty salons have the same environment. Each salon tries to have its own distinct identity and ambience. Some cater to a particular section of the society, while others meet the demands of certain ethnic communities.

Interior Design

There are hundreds of attractive possibilities for designing your salon with creative and well-organized working floor plans. To begin with, make a rough sketch of the salon with proper dimensions. The floor layout is drawn using a grid paper or an architectural scale. For a good beauty saloon, the normal space required per stylist is around 125 to 150 square feet. The salon should also contain rooms for facials, massages, skin care, or electrolysis, as well as a men’s hairstyling space with small waiting area, and a tint room.

Many beauty salons are now remodeled in order to make the interior as well as the floors more attractive. Even though one can undertake the remodeling planning and designing by oneself, it is better to consult an architect or interior designer for professional assistance. An architect’s advice will help a lot in the structural redesigning of a beauty salon. Take special care in designing the reception area as it creates the first impression regarding the salon.

Various versions of floor plan software are available for free on the Internet. These can be easily downloaded to create great looking floors for the salon.

For those who need help with planning everything from small apartment plans to interior office plans, there is a solution for every need. If you are like most, you spend a great deal of your time at the office. Therefore, everything within that space should be something that is working for you or that offers an inside look at your personality. You can accomplish this in many ways.

Know The Rules

Interior Design

There may be some rules in interior office design that you need to take into consideration when planning your office project. Your employer may have several rules for you to follow which may include things like how the office can be decorated or where you can place furniture within it. It is often important to know what’s allowed so that you do not step on any toes. The good news is that there are many times when these rules won’t hold you back.

The Layout

For your interior office design, the layout needs to be considered. The location of the furniture is important for many reasons. It looks good but it also has to be productive. You need to know where the best places to put your computer monitor. You need to know how to hide all those cords within a certain area. You do not want cords hanging in all the wrong locations. You should also consider the amount of workspace you need and how to pull off this type of look.

Also consider the clients that will come into your office space. They should be easy to see and talk to from your desk, or wherever you will greet them. Keep storage neat and clean throughout the location as well, so that visitors do not need to see mess. You can accomplish this through careful storage options.

Decorating

One of the final things to consider in your interior office design is the decor. You can add a lot of personality to a space by using the various knickknacks and colorful curtains to improve the area. You do need to consider the theme and the overall look, though. Try to coordinate items using color or texture. You do not want a lot of inappropriate items in the office space.

No matter if you are after the perfect interior office design for your office at work or even for the small apartment plan you have, the key is to set it up to look and function well.
